Historical Walking Tour Frederiksted
Of all three historic towns in the Virgin Islands, the history of Frederiksted is arguably the most remarkable, with everything from slave rebellion to tsunami to warrior queens to conflagration. CHANT offers a walking tour that shares the history of the town while showcasing the magnificent waterfront, historic Fort Frederik, Victorian townhouses and historic churches.

Tours begin on the waterfront adjacent to the pier and wind their way through the wide avenues of the town, from Strand Street to King Cross Street, then on to Prince Street where the Old Danish School and St. Patrick's Church stand and ending at Fort Frederik on King Street. Guides will highlight the important architectural and design elements of the historic buildings which reflect the Danish Colonial and African influences of the builders, history of the families who own and occupy the buildings and their historic uses. Many buildings date back to the late 1700's while others were rebuilt after the historic "Fireburn" of 1878.
