The Works at Butler Bay

ruins of one of the largest Sugar Factories Visit the ruins of one of the largest Sugar Factories on the island of St. Croix. Butler Bay, once one of the richest estates in the Danish West Indies, is home to the remains of the plantation including animal pens, and ancient Baobab trees brought to the island from Africa in the era of the slave trade.

The tour will include historical interpretation of the buildings and the estate by Michael Hartlage, property manager; exploration of the ruins and the grounds. Visitors can review historical records and archives of the plantation in the overseer's cottage on the property
